The truth is that NYSC relocation, sometimes, can be daunting if you don’t understand the process.

The idea right now is to follow our tips if you want your relocation application to get approved faster.

Before we proceed further, let’s explain what NYSC relocation means and the things to expect during the process.

What is NYSC Relocation?

NYSC relocation is requesting a transfer from the present state to another state.

For example,

If you plan to serve in Port Harcourt but NYSC posts you in Katsina state, you can actually request to change to a state of your choice.

But the truth is that there are certain conditions to meet before the NYSC approves your relocation.

Some of these conditions include medical issues, security concerns, marriage, and other pressing issues.

Take a chill glass of water, you are not the first person to request relocation or reredeployment. Just follow our steps.

With proper documentation, your chances of serving in a new state are very high. Keep reading, we are heading to the main points.

Are you unsure of how to request the NYSC redeployment? Now! Let’s unfold the conditions behind relocation.

Because you may fall into one of these conditions. Our list of documentation will let you know what you can use for your application process.

Medical-related grounds.

Imagine you’re a corper living in Enugu state, also suffering from a chronic illness, heart disease, or kidney problem, your doctor advised you to stay close to the hospital for weekly checkups, while the NYSC posted you in Maiduguri state.

This is where you can request relocation/redeployment to Enugu state for medical reasons, and the NYSC officials will approve your application faster.

Here are the proper documentations for corp members planning to relocate based on health-related grounds.

Get a medical report.

The first thing you need to do is to obtain a valid medical report from the government hospitals with a doctor’s signature.

The medical reports from a doctor must state your sickness and the reasons why you need urgent attention and close monitoring.

Note: your medical reports must come from government or military hospitals. NYSC often rejects private or missionary reports.

You will also write a handwritten letter stating your purpose of relocation and why your application needs urgent attention.

Security Concerns

NYSC understands that every serving corps member in Nigeria deserves maximum security.

So, you can request relocation if your safety is not guaranteed in your previous posting. Some states in Nigeria are affected by insurgency, and that’s enough reason for you.

If you provide NYSC with detailed reasons why your life is probably in danger, they might grant your request. Ensure you apply with the right documents.

Write a brief explanatory letter to the officials because security measures are among the NYSC’s top priorities.

Marital Reasons:

Marriage is one of the major conditions NYSC officials consider before approving a relocation application.

Married corps members who want to stay with their spouse during their one-year service can actually request relocation. And it is okay to apply for it.

For example, if your husband lives in Anambra State and you were posted in Adamawa, you can simply request to stay with your husband in Anambra.

Officials will certainly approve your requests if you have all the necessary documents.

NYSC acknowledged the importance of female corps members living with their spouses.

Documentation requirements for Married female corps members.

Marriage certificate:

This certificate will prove that you are married and have also adopted your husband’s official name.

Utility Bill

You must also provide a utility bill that states your husband’s current address.

How to Request NYSC Relocation/Redeployment

NYSC has provided two options for Corps members applying for relocation or redeployment.

Relocation can be either offline or online. So, let’s go into details.

Orientation Camp Request.

You can start your relocation application at the orientation camp. And it is one of the easiest ways to get your application approved faster.

Because you are closer to the officials, all your demands will be attended to.

First, you need to complete the relocation form. Write a handwritten application with backup documentation like medical reports, a marriage certificate, or other health-related documents.

On your application, make a strong, responsible argument for why you need to relocate.

Explain your conditions in a detailed format, and quickly find a perfect opportunity to meet the officials for an interview.
